Volunteer Opportunities

How can I volunteer or help out?

1. What if I don't have much time?

There are a number of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages. Here are some examples:

If you consider yourself computer savy you can gather emails to send out news on the festival, help develop myspace pages, utube, using Microsoft Publisher to make newsletters, and search for companies, motorcycle clubs, and other entities to invite to the city parade.

2. How can I help volunteer during the festival?

Whether its 2 hours or 5 hours, we appreciate any volunteer assistance. We need to volunteers walk along portions of the 1.2 mile city parade route on Saturday from 1pm to 2pm to keep children on sidewalks, welcome parade participants when they arrive at the assembly area, or how about welcoming and sitting dignitaries during the MLK Leadership Breakfast on "early" Sunday morning January 18th, 2009.

3. How can I participate in organizing the festival? Maybe I have some good ideas?

Yes, the best suggestions come from the participants and it always helps to have another perspective. During the month of December 2008 and January 2009 leading up to the festival, meetings are held every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the educational building of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church on Warren Street, Plant City. Church is one block west of Lincoln Elementary School. You are more than welcome to just stop by and listen in as committees prepare and give reports.
