The 35th Annual Plant City MLK Festival celebrates the legacy of Dr. King with music, art, and activism. This year's event elebrating 35 years in 2021. Plant City, Florida is centrally located along the I-4 corridor between Tampa and Orlando.

This volunteer-led festival is an opportunity to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy of service and be inspired to live out his dream today in our homes, the community, City of Plant City and throughout the world. In addition to food, music, vendors, and leadership breakfast, the festival will present opportunities to learn more about important issues affecting our communities. Community Conversations will present opportunities for jobs, equitable opportunities, and sustaining strong healthy neighborhoods.

The Improvement League of Plant City, CDC, a local non-profit group is the organizer of this festival serving Eastern Hillsborough County and surrounding West Central Florida.

LOCATION

A majority of the events will be held at the Plant City Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Complex. The complex encompassing over 25 acres includes two baseball fields, Concession Stand, and new 6 million dollar Sadye Gibbs Martin Community Center. The Opening Ceremony - Marshall Middle School and MLK Leadership Breakfast will be held at the Trinkle Center, Plant City HCC Campus.

MLK Parade

The Plant City Dr. MLK Jr. Freedom Parade will be held Saturday January 16, 2021. The parade begins at the corner of Wheeler and MLK Blvd and proceeds east on MLK Blvd, passing the Willaford Railroad Museum, Sam Cooper Lake, Bing House Museum and ending at the 25 acre MLK Recreation Complex, 1601 E. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd, Plant City, Florida 33563.

The parade route is 1.5 miles long and attendance averages 6,000 and generates revenue for the 20 plus church and family sponsored food stands and booths along MLK Blvd leading up to the street festival.
